Storms batter Vermont

Storms batter Vermont: Heavy storms batter Vermont wreaking havoc throughout the state. Some received only a sprinkling; other cities and towns got hammered.

The National Weather Service has issued a TORNADO WATCH in effect until 9pm this evening for the following areas:
In New York:
Clinton
Essex
Franklin
St. Lawrence

In Vermont:
Addison
Essex
Washington
Orange
Caledonia
Orleans
Chittenden
Franklin
Grand Isle
Lamoille
Rutland
Windsor

FLASH FLOOD WATCH

The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a FLASH FLOOD WATCH for all of Northern New York and Vermont through this evening. Widespread 1 to 2 inch rainfall totals occurred across the region last night. More thunderstorms are expected today with another 1 to 3 inches of rainfall possible into early tonight. Areas most susceptible to flooding will be in Vermont north of Rutland and Windsor counties. 

*INSTRUCTIONS: A FLASH FLOOD WATCH means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING

The national weather service in Burlington has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING  for southern Essex county in New York and western Addison county in Vermont until 7:30am. At 6:23am national weather service Doppler Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing one inch diameter hail and damaging winds in excess of 60mph. The storm was near Vanderwhacker Mountain moving East at 40mph.

*INSTRUCTIONS: Get to safety immediately when threatening weather approaches. Winds may know down trees and power lines and damage buildings. Large hail may cause injury and damage property.

On this Memorial Day we will see partly cloudy skies with a 40% chance of rain and thunderstorms this afternoon. Temperatures will be in the mid 70's to low 80's. Thanks to all the men and women who have served our country.

Tropical Storm Beryl

Tropical Storm Beryl has made landfall in Florida.
As of 5am Tropical Storm Beryl has winds of 50mph and is moving west at 8mph.










The projected path shows Beryl turning to the northwest by this evening, then turning east and heading back out to sea by Thursday.

Tropical Storm Beryl

Subtropical storm Beryl has been upgraded to a Tropical Storm. Here is the latest:

As of 2pm Tropical Storm Beryl has winds of 65mph and is moving west at 10mph.










It looks like Tropical Storm Beryl will continue to move west and hit Florida with winds of about 60mph. Keep checking back here and I will update you on where it goes.








There are no tropical storm watches, but warnings go from the Volusia/ Brevard Co. Line, Flordia, north to Edisto Beach, SC.

Subtropical Storm Beryl

As of 2pm Beryl is a subtropical storm with winds of 45mph and is currently moving southwest at 6mph.










The projected path shows Beryl gaining a little bit of strength before hitting Florida.










There are currently tropical storm warnings going from Volusia/Brecard Co Line, Florida north to Edisto Beach, South Carolina.





Watches go from Edisto Beach, South Carolina north to Santee River.

As of 5am this morning Tropical Storm Alberto has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression with winds of 35mph. Alberto is moving northeast at 15mph.

As of 5am Tropical Storm Alberto has weakened from 12 hours ago. Alberto currently has winds of 40mph and is moving south-southeast at 5mph.









The current track for Tropical Storm Alberto still shows that it will start to turn northeast and move away from coast. As it moves away, the intensity will continue to decrease.

The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a FROST ADVISORY from midnight tonight until 8am Friday.
*Locations: Central and Southern Vermont and the western slopes of the Green Mountains
*Hazards: Near freezing temperatures and areas of frost.
*Temperatures: Lows in the mid 30s.
*Timing: Temperatures are expected to fall to near freezing after midnight with areas of frost forming during the pre-dawn hours
*Impacts: Unprotected crops and other sensitive vegetation may possibly be killed or damaged by freezing temperatures

The SEVERE THUNDER STORM WARNING for Southwestern Lamoille, Northwestern Washington, Northeastern Essex, Chittenden, Northwest Addison, South central Franklin has now expired. 
The SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Bennington still continues until 6:15.

The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a SEVER THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Bennington County in Vermont until 6:15.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING

The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a SEVERE THUNDER STORM WARNING for Southwestern Lamoille, Northwestern Washington, Northeastern Essex, Chittenden, Northwest Addison, South central Franklin until 5:15pm. At 4:08 pm National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing one inch diameter hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. The storm was near Lewis moving northeast at 45 mph. This severe thunderstorm is producing deadly cloud to ground lightning.

The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for Addison, Caledonia, Chittenden, Essex, Franklin, Grand Isle, Lamoille, Orange, Orleans, Rutland, Washington, and Windsor counties until 9pm. Storms are starting to pop up and I will be updating on when severe thunderstorm warnings pop up and expire.
